New York Academy of Art SURP Residency
The New York Academy of Art offers a summer residency program, immersing artists in work and life in New York City. Davidson undertook this program in June 2025 prior to the third year of his degree, undertaking classes and experiencing the bustling city. Alongside his fellow students, he exhibited at the Academy’s entrance hall under the title ‘A World Inside’, curated by Tina Dion.
Drawing
The drawing classes at the academy amounted to around 24 hours of in class time, studying the human form and moving between the mediums of charcoal and graphite.

Painting Practice
The painting classes at the academy totalled to 24 in class hours, which focused on direct vs. indirect painting, the study of light, and investigation of the human form through figure painting.

Sculpture
The sculpture classes at the academy totalled to 24 in class hours, completely focusing on sculpting the human form through an understanding of anatomy.

Final Exhibition: A World Inside
Davidson’s take on ‘A World Inside’ emerged from a more literal reading of the exhibition title. Taking from Caravaggio’s ‘Incredulity of Thomas’, he intended to explore the internality of desire, want and connection - a baptism of blood and remembrance.
